With over 1.5 billion active users, Facebook is a great way to reach a global community of supporters for your nonprofit.
Facebook Fundraisers
Facebook Fundraisers is a new feature for nonprofits to reach supporters and get funding for their cause. Here is just a few of the highlights:
- Fundraiser will be shared with your Page followers
- Users can share the fundraiser and invite their friends
- Provide updates to your supporters during the campaign and let them know when you reach your goal
- The donation process is incredibly quick and easy (donations take place without ever leaving Facebook)
- Donors can share with their friends that they’ve donated (shared posts will have a donate button on them too!)
Fundraisers take the functionality of the existing donate button a step further by providing nonprofits a dedicated place to raise funds for a specific campaign.
Fundraisers will get a dedicated link where nonprofits can tell their campaign story, collect donations, and track progress towards the campaign goal. Here is an example of a Fundraiser from the World Wildlife Fund:
And, on your Page you can highlight your Fundraisers and their progress:

Improvements to Facebook’s Donate Button
In an effort to increase donations, Facebook has also made some improvements to their existing Donate button. First, the button will now be available on both Pages and posts. This give nonprofits an easy place to collect donations not only from their page, but also from their posts directly in the News Feed.
Below is an example of the placement of the donate button on a Page:
When a user clicks on the donate button they are prompted to provide their payment information, donation amount ($10, $25,$50, $100, or a custom amount), and whether or not they would like to share their email with the nonprofit.
The donation process is quick and easy, all happening within a one-page form without ever leaving Facebook. One of the best parts? It allows contributors to share with their friends that they made a donation! These shares will also include a donate button, making this feature a great tool to increase exposure and engagement for the cause.
